Service 03
Realise residual value instead of paying disposal costs
Retired business IT is rarely worthless. After erasure, diagnostics and grading we remarket devices through established B2B channels and settle transparently — per device, traceable, fixed price or revenue share.
- Diagnostics & grading
- Fixed price or revenue share
- Settlement per serial number
What determines residual value
Used IT market value comes from a few clear factors. Knowing them lets you time retirement to maximise return.
- Age and generation: value drops fastest in the first four years.
- Configuration: CPU class, RAM and storage size matter more than brand.
- Condition: screen scratches, dents and missing keys cost margin.
- Completeness: charger, dock, stylus, keyboard — missing accessories reduce price disproportionately.
- Volume and uniformity: 200 identical laptops sell for more per unit than 200 mixed ones.
- Locks: activation lock, MDM enrolment or BIOS passwords make a device unsellable until released.
For a first estimate, a list of models, ages, configurations and quantities is enough — we give you a residual-value indication before anything moves.
Rule of thumb
Retiring earlier costs less
A device entering the secondary market after three years typically brings a multiple of the same device after five or six — with lower operational failure risk in the meantime.
What we check before remarketing
- Functional diagnostics of all main components, including battery health
- Completeness and originality of components
- Visual grading against fixed criteria
- Confirmed, verified data erasure
Grading
Assessed by fixed criteria, not gut feeling
| Grade | Visual condition | Technical condition | Typical route |
|---|---|---|---|
| Grade A | Near-mint, minimal wear | Fully functional | Direct resale, employee purchase |
| Grade B | Visible but normal wear | Fully functional | Refurbishing and resale |
| Grade C | Significant wear, cosmetic damage | Functional or repairable at low cost | Budget secondary market, bulk lots |
| Defective | Any | Not economically repairable | Parts harvesting, then recycling |
Settlement
Three models — choose what fits your books
Fixed-price buy-out
We buy the stock at a price fixed upfront. Planning certainty for you; market risk sits with us.
Revenue share
We remarket on your behalf and split proceeds per an agreed key. You benefit from strong market phases.
Fee-for-service
For largely worthless stock we bill the process as a service and offset any proceeds. You still get the full documentation package.
Remarketing
Where devices go
We remarket mostly B2B: to dealers and refurbishers, through tenders for schools and social projects, and directly to end customers where sensible. You can exclude channels — e.g. your home market or specific sectors.
Your brand leaves the device
Asset tags, inventory stickers and company branding are removed before remarketing. Domain membership, certificates and licences disappear with erasure.
